Die Lage für die im Gazastreifen eingeschlossene palästinensische Bevölkerung wird immer prekärer, UNO-Generalsekretär Antonio Guterres fordert schnelel Hilfe für die Menschen dort. Weiter werden Raketen aus dem Gazastreifen abgefeuert, Israel bombardiert Hamas-Ziele. In der palästinensischen Zivilbevölkerung herrschen Angst und Wut.

10. Oktober

Immer mehr Details werden zum Angriff vom Samstag bekannt. Allein in einem völlig zerstörten Kibbuz nahe dem Gazastreifen mit rund 1000 Einwohnern wurden mehr als 100 Leichen geborgen. Israel setzt als Reaktion auf den Überfall die Luftangriffe im Gazastreifen fort. Bis zum Dienstagabend werden 687 Todesopfer gemeldet und mehr als 3800 Verletzte. Die Hizbollah im Libanon feuert ebenfalls Raketen auf Israel ab. Die israelische Armee reagiert mit Artilleriefeuer und Angriffen mit Kampfhelikoptern.

9. Oktober

Die Kämpfe zwischen israelischen Soldaten und bewaffneten Angreifern der Hamas im Grenzgebiet dauern auch am Montagmorgen an. Israel mobilisiert 300’000 Reservisten. Es ist die grösste Mobilisierung in der Geschichte des Landes. Weiterhin werden aus dem Gazastreifen Raketen in Richtung Israel abgefeuert. Israel ordnet eine komplette Abriegelung des Gebiets an, in dem mehr als zwei Millionen Menschen leben. Verteidigungsminister Joav Galant sagt: «Es wird keinen Strom, keine Lebensmittel und keinen Treibstoff geben.»

Am Sonntag schätzt das israelische Militär die Zahl der eingedrungenen Palästinenser auf etwa 1000. Am Abend wird geschätzt, dass 700 israelische Zivilisten und Soldaten getötet, mehr als 2380 Menschen verletzt und mehr als 100 Menschen in den Gazastreifen verschleppt wurden, darunter Frauen, Kinder und Alte. Die Hamas feuert weitere Raketen Richtung Israel ab. Im Grossraum Tel Aviv und in anderen Städten des Landes gibt es am Sonntagabend Raketenalarm. Die Kämpfe im Süden dauern an. Israel startet Gegenangriffe, mehr als 413 Menschen werden dabei getötet.
