Der verhängnisvolle Angriff beginnt am 2. November 2023 kurz vor Mittag. Um 11.57 Uhr Ortszeit schlägt ein Geschoss im Büro der französischen Nachrichtenagentur Agence France Press (AFP) in Gaza-Stadt ein. Innerhalb weniger Minuten wird mindestens viermal auf das Haus geschossen. Es wird zwar niemand getötet, jedoch klafft ein grosses Loch in der Aussenwand des Gebäudes.
