Es war 1957, als der kalifornische Komiker Steve Allen – Brille, Anzug, Krawatte – seinen berühmten TV-Sketch spielte. Wie ein Gedichtrezitator sass er in seiner Show vor der Zimmerpalme und las den Text von «Be-Bop-A-Lula» vor, einem neuen, gnadenlos versexten Song von Gene Vincent. «Be-Bop-A-Luuuba», deklamierte Allen süffisant, er las es falsch ab. Das Studiopublikum lachte donnernd. «She’s my baby.» Wieder Gelächter. Was Allens Nummer sagte: Okay, liebe junge Leute, ein bisschen geilen Spass gönnen wir euch.
